Moonlit ocean

This wedding gown was inspired by moonlight shimmering on the deep blue of the Pacific Ocean so it was fitting that I hand-sewed the hundreds of freshwater pearls onto the bodice whilst at sea, much to the amusement of my naval colleagues who had never witnessed such a cultured activity in a wardroom. The dress is made from three different silks and the skirt is made of floating layered panels in three shades of silver and blue. I had technical help from my wonderful, talented, creative friend Judy who inspired me to later follow her lead and study fashion design. The bridesmaids' and flower girl's dresses were simple, elegant empire-line sheaths in matching dark blue silk.
